Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Butler (theaibutler.co or the Butler Chrome extension) you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Butler.

2. Description of Service

Butler is a personalised news digest service. It consists of: (a) a Chrome extension that lets you tag topics and capture highlights while browsing; (b) a web dashboard at theaibutler.co for managing your tags and digest settings; and (c) a daily email digest summarising news relevant to your topics, compiled using AI.

AI-generated summaries are provided for informational purposes only. We do not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.

3. Account Registration

You must create an account to use Butler. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information at sign-up. Accounts are for individual use only — you may not share your account.

4. Chrome Extension

The Butler Chrome extension is distributed via the Chrome Web Store. Your use of the extension is subject to Google's Chrome Web Store Terms of Service in addition to these Terms. The extension requires access to page URLs and selected text to deliver its core functionality; no other browsing data is collected.

5. Subscription and Billing

Butler offers a free tier and a paid subscription tier. Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) at the rates displayed at checkout.

  • Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time via the dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until then.
  • Refunds. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact hello@theaibutler.co within 14 days.
  • Price changes.We may change subscription prices with 30 days' notice. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Butler to collect or harvest data from third-party websites in violation of those sites' terms
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract Butler's source code
  • Use Butler for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to Butler's systems

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section without notice.

7. Intellectual Property

Butler and all associated software, design, and content are owned by The AI Butler and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Butler for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You retain ownership of the topics and highlights you add to Butler. By using Butler you grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to operate the service for you.

8. Disclaimers

Butler is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated summaries will be accurate.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The AI Butler shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Butler. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Butler shall not exceed the fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access immediately if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use Butler ceases and we may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Maricopa County, Arizona.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on theaibutler.co. Continued use of Butler after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
